URBSAF - Student Ambassador Application DUE Friday, September 18th
About the URBSAF Student Ambassador Position
The Urbandale Schools and Alumni Foundation (URBSAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Urbandale students and educators through scholarships (Dollars for Scholars), teacher grants (Making A Difference Grants), and community fundraising. URBSAF recognizes that current students bring a unique and valuable perspective to our mission which is To Enhance opportunities for Urbandale students, teachers and staff.
Student Ambassadors serve as a vital connection between URBSAF and the students of Urbandale Community School District (UCSD). URBSAF hosts four meetings throughout the academic school year. The desire is to have two (2) Student Ambassadors selected to represent and present briefly at each meeting and offer their insight to our non-profit, for a total of eight (8) Student Ambassador spots annually.
Ambassadors work alongside URBSAF board members in a non-voting advisory capacity, sharing insights from their area of focus, helping elevate student voices, and gaining firsthand experience in nonprofit leadership and community philanthropy.
Our History
Our foundation is 34 years old, with its Articles of Incorporation officially filed in March of 1992 as the Urbandale Education Foundation. The school district's Dollars for Scholars program, which began in 1962 and is the oldest Dollars for Scholars chapter in the State of Iowa, later came under the foundation. In November of 2013, the foundation expanded to include the Urbandale Alumni Association. The foundation also grew further to create Making a Difference Grants, providing educators with funds to assist them in projects that "bring learning to life" in the classroom. With these additions, we rebranded to our current name, Urbandale Schools and Alumni Foundation, to better reflect our mission.
Our Board and Committees
Our board and committees, including alumni, current and past parents of students in the district, business leaders, and district representative liaisons, reflect a mix of perspectives that brings together diverse voices to guide our work.
Through this structure, we remain dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for students, supporting educators, and keeping alumni connected to the Urbandale community.
